Tru64 support device
Is there Tru64 support device matrix information ? Specifically my interest is if Tru64 5.1A or 5.1B is compatible with LTO Ultrium-2 FibreChannel interface.
IF backup software (Veritas NetBackup) running on Tru64 supports LTO-2 FC, is it possible to say Tru64 supports LTO-2 FC ? Even in case of YES, is there HBA dependency ? (Is it possible to take it both FCA2354 and KGPSA-CA on Tru64 works with LTO-2 FC ?)
tks

Re: Tru64 support device
Hi Jun,
To answer your direct question on a device support matrix. The AlphaServer Supported Option List is the tool/matrix provided by HP for options directly connected to AlphaServer systems.
Storage options/devices connected to Storage Area Networks (SAN's) are provided off the HP Storage web site. See below.
Device/option support is provided at two levels within a system.
1) The Hardware System - Model of the AlphaServer you want to use the device/option within and or the Storage system. The AlphaServer Model or Storage system should support the device/option as tested and qualified by HP. For a list of AlphaServer Models and supproted options see...
http://h18002.www1.hp.com/alphaserver/products/options.html
From this site you can select your AlphaServer Model then review the supported option list for support. Also, pay attention to any option specific Notes - firmware and operating system version information.
The Storage area is a bit more complicated when considering all the various solutions. The Ultrium drives currently supported on Tru64 UNIX can be found off the HP Storage web site.
http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/compatibility/tapebackup/software/index.html
2) The operating system (e.g. Tru64 UNIX) - Provided the device/option is supported for the AlphaServer hardware system you'll working with the next check is with the Tru64 UNIX operating system.
Generally, all the options listed as supported for a specific AlphaServer hardware Model are supported by the Tru64 UNIX operating system, provided it's supported on that specific hardware model. The exceptions to this are listed under the Supported Hardware Options list, and additional restrictions and notes would be found in the Tru64 UNIX Release Notes specific to the desired version.
I'm not specifically familiar with Ultrium LTO-2 (Fiber interface) Tape Drive. The Ultrium 460 (LTO 2 format) is supported under Tru64 UNIX V5.1A & V5.1B with a patch kit. See...
http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/compatibility/tapebackup/software/detail/17-0099-0091.html
For connectivity options/support for these drives see the Storage page for compatibility found at...
http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/compatibility/tapebackup/index.html
Then select AlphaServers link. FYI... The Ultrium 460 is supported.
Third party device/option support for AlphaServer systems is best addressed by the device/option Vendor if not found on the AlphaServer supported option page, or Storage site.
Hope this is helpful.
Regards,
Dave Bechtold
