Simpler Navigation for Servers and Operating Systems
Completed: a much simpler Servers and Operating Systems section of the Community. We combined many of the older boards, so you won't have to click through so many levels to get at the information you need. Check the consolidated boards here as many sub-forums are now single boards.

stop/suppress Collect messages/status in syslog

I have a central syslog server and EVERY hour from EVERY Tru64 box I receive the message 'Forcing data buffer flush.'

/usr/sbin/collect[158938]: Forcing data buffer flush

Is there anyway to suppress this message or all collect messages from syslog daemon.?

It really distracts from more serious system messages, amongst ALL our servers.

Re: stop/suppress Collect messages/status in syslog

As collect does not provides any option to stop logging to syslog, then you may have the following choices:

- Increase the level at which daemon messages are logged in syslog.conf
- Use grep -v to filter collect messages
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?
