DL360 G6 - Upgrading Processor
Hi
I am looking to add an additional processor to my DL360 G6 Server. Apart from the processor itself, what additional components do I need (i.e CPU Cooler, etc?).
Thanks!

Re: DL360 G6 - Upgrading Processor
Hi,
1 processor model DL360 G6 will be shipped with 3 fan modules.
2 Processor Models requires 4 fan modules as per Fan redundancy standards.
So if you would like to add an additional processor, you will need to purchase 1 fan module as well.
NOTE: The processor option kit contains 1 additional fan module, when upgrading from a 1 processor
to two processor models. A Fan Module Option kit can also be purchased separately for use with PCI
Graphics card upgrades on single processor models.

Re: DL360 G6 - Upgrading Processor
Hi,
Yes, as you are removing the processor heat sink, it requires the thermal grease. It may be shipped with the processor.
Note: The heat sink thermal interface media is not reusable and must be replaced if the heat sink is removed from the processor after it has been installed.
You may check the below links for processor installation instruction.

Also see the video in HP service media library for installing new processor.
http://h20464.www2.hp.com/index.html
1. Select Servers > HP Proliant DL Servers> HP Proliant DL360 G6 Server.
2. Click on Remove/Replace video
3. Select processor in the newley opened Window.
Also make sure that you have the processor installation tools.
