Hi,
I write you from France because i don't find any answer on french forums.
My friend has sold me a Proliant ML350 G3 server. Well, I've no documentations. I get it from HP support, but i d'ont find much answers.
I would like to know where i could find a BIOS update for this server (ROMPaq ?).
After, i've bought 2x Intel Xeon 2,8 GHZ DP 533FSB LowVoltage. When i install one or two, result is the same. The second LED (Internal Health LED) is red and nothing appears on the screen. The server works with one 2,2GHz FSB 400 or one 2,4GHz FSB400 Processor. On the documentation, it's written it accepts the 533FSB. I don't understand so what's the problem... I've bought with the 2,8 GHz processor a VRM.
What's wrong ? VRM (new, tested, it works)speccial VRM needed ?? , Xeons ? (tested on a Supermicro Motherboard, they work) BIOS is too old ?? That's why i told me that maybe a BIOS update will solve my problem.
I'm tired to look for answers i don't find. Thanks for help.

Solution
hi
well here it is the System ROM update but you must be aware that the 533 FBS is model dependent
"Up to 533-MHz Front Side Bus (model dependent)" from quickspecs
there are 400 Mhz FBS that wont support 533 Mhz Processors and vice versa so check your server model
"ServerWorks Grand Champion LE Chipset with 400-MHz or 533-MHz Front Side Bus (model dependent)"
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11430_div/11430_div.HTML
by the way which processor you bought?
- Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz-1MB Processor Option Kit
352567-B21
NOTE: The 2.8 GHz-1MB processor option kit (PN 352567-B21) supports ProLiant ML350 G3 systems with 533 MHz front side bus only. This kit cannot be used in 400 MHz front side bus systems such as those with 2.4 GHz, 2.2 GHz or 2.0 GHz processors.
Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz-512KB Processor Option Kit
314763-B21
NOTE: The 2.8 GHz processor option kit (PN 314763-B21) supports ProLiant ML350 G3 systems with 533 MHz front side bus only. This kit cannot be used in 400 MHz front side bus systems such as those with 2.4 GHz, 2.2 GHz or 2.0 GHz processors.
here the System ROM

Re: ML350 G3 - BIOS Update & Processor support
At first, thanks for your answer.
I've bought two intel Xeon 2,8GHz FSB533 Low Voltage : SL8GU / 2800DP/1M/533/LV
It's not an upgrade kit from HP or Compaq. I've bought them on ebay...
After i've also bought a second VRM ( i had one for the Intel Xeon 2,4GHz FSB400 )
Firt VRM reference i had :
SPARE PART NO : 290560-001
PART NO : 266284-001
Second VRM reference i bought :
SPARE PART N0 : 289564-001
PART NO : 266284-001
I first thought that it doesn't matter but i have now doubts.
Effectively, i've read installing debian than th chip is a serverwork.
Thanks a lot.
