Support Pack for Proliant Firmware Update

hi,

I'm trying to boot with the Support Pack for Proliant DVD and every time I try it the boot process hangs loading drivers. I've tried the last two DVD without luck. I've also tryed to create a boot USB key but it hangs in the same step.

The servers I try to boot are Prolian DL580 G7. I've tried in three of them and in all cases it can't boot. any ideas?

If I boot the iso, or the DVD, in a virtualbox virtual machine it boots very quickly!

The iso's that I'm using are this:

HP_Service_Pack_for_Proliant_2013.02.0-0_725490-001_spp_2013.02.0-SPP2013020.2013_0204.107.iso

HP_Service_Pack_for_Proliant_2012.10.0-0_713293-001_spp_2012.10.0-SPP2012100.2012_1005.37.iso

The md5 hash is correct.

Hi ,

Too trivial to ask, but are you using the full bootable ISO set of 2.5 GB ?

Re: Support Pack for Proliant Firmware Update

Yes, I'm using the bootable ISO. In fact, I can boot with that ISO in other systems but not in my DL580G7

Re: Support Pack for Proliant Firmware Update

I couldn't send you a photo right now. Next week I will path the last of my 5 DL580G7 and I will send you a screenshot.

When the boot hangs it shows the HP logo and a progress bar that never ends. If I escape that screen I can see that the boot process is loading drivers. I suspect that it could be a problem with the number of nics, I have 20 nics in those servers.

Re: Support Pack for Proliant Firmware Update

I've tried the media to boot in a DL380G7 which "only" have 10 nics and it boots quickly. So it should be a problem loading the drivers for the amount of hardware that the DL580G7 have.

Re: Support Pack for Proliant Firmware Update

These are the screen shots that I've take.

The boot hangs in "Loading additional drivers". There is no option in the boot menu so I think I can't do anything to resolve this.

Re: Support Pack for Proliant Firmware Update

I have seen the same with a BL685c G7 - a quite similar system.

Hope this helps!

Re: Support Pack for Proliant Firmware Update

Finaly I could boot the SPP by disconnecting the fiber. It was the first thing I should try.

Re: Support Pack for Proliant Firmware Update

I have the same problem with a ProLiant DL360 G5 using

HP_Service_Pack_for_Proliant_2014.02.0-0_761723-001_spp_2014.02.0-SPP2014020.2014_0128.5.iso

DVD.  I'm wishing I had fiber to disconnect to fix the probem as suggested but I don't!
