SIM 6.3 - WBEM in Windows not working
Hello,
I have some problems with SIM 6.3 an WBEM in Windows (all versions of Windows Server).
All Servers are domain members, WBEM providers are installed, domain admin credentials are given in SIM as global credentials, the domain admin is member of the domain and local dcom user group, the rights for the wmi namespaces are set, firewalls are deactivated and WMI Mapper is configured. Furthermore I can send an test event using "Test WBEM Event" - Tool successful.
I can monitor my ESXi Servers and EVA using WBEM, but on all Windows servers WBEM is not discoverd.
Is there anything else I can check? Could there be an group policy setting on domain level that causes WBEM for all windows servers not to work?
Thanks for you help.

Re: SIM 6.3 - WBEM in Windows not working
In sim did you subscribe your systems to check for wbem through the option. If not just google subscription for wbem in sim. Only other thing i can think of is checking firewall and also make sure that on windows servers if r2, enable ports 5988 and 5989 for wbem.

Re: SIM 6.3 - WBEM in Windows not working
WBEM is not identified during discovery:
* Checking for WBEM protocol support on system...
Minor: This system does not have any SMI-S CIMOMs installed. No storage
systems will be found on this system.
Minor: The Central Management System (CMS) cannot communicate with the
CIMOM locally installed on the managed system using the WBEM
protocol, Identification will try to identify Windows systems using
the WMI Mapper as proxy; for Linux and HP-UX systems, check
credentials by going to Options->Security->Credentials->System
Credentials. For Linux systems also check if the HP WBEM provider
is installed.
* Running WBEM rules based identification...
Minor: Identification cannot get computer system hardware data from the
WBEM / WMI providers.
Therefore when I try to subscribe to WBEM Indications, I get the following error:
WBEM protocol settings are not valid/enabled for this system in HP SIM. Check your HP SIM settings for identification via WBEM.
Subscribe to WBEM / WMI Indications ................................. [FAILED]
Desktop firewalls are disabled on nodes and CMS. Some of the server are Windows 2008 R2. What exactly do you mean by "enable ports"? Enable a rule in the firewall?

Re: SIM 6.3 - WBEM in Windows not working
Have you setup the WMI Mapper correctly on the |CMS? It translates raw WMI calls (windows) in to WBEM calls (industry) . What port Have you configured the mapper to listen on?
