problem in frecover

hello Geeks,


i am trying to frecover a file from the tape.
i want one file i.e.,DLRTX_CLUSTER_DUMPS/DL_RTX_TAP:AUG06.dmp.Z

i m using this command :

frecover -f /dev/rmt/0mn -x -v -i /temp_for_restore/DLRTX_CLUSTER_DUMPS/DL_RTX_TAP:AUG06.dmp.Z


and following is the error i am getting.

Alos, i i tried to rewind the tape and frecover.
just like,and also the error message :

# mt -f /dev/rmt/0mn rew
# frecover -f /dev/rmt/0mn -x -v -i /archive/temp_for_restore/DLRTX_CLUSTER_DUMPS/DL_RTX_TAP:AUG06.dmp.Z
frecover(4301): /archive/temp_for_restore/DLRTX_CLUSTER_DUMPS/DL_RTX_TAP:AUG06.dmp.Z not recovered from backup media


my system is HP-UX B.11.11 super-dome model

Hi Prasad,

If you /archive directory is in the root filesystem and the DL_RTX_TAP:AUG06.dmp.Z file is larger then 600MB it will fail!

Try restoring it to /var/tmp or an other filesystem with more space.

/archive is mounted separately, its only 43 % full.

Here is the scenario when i tried the same using SAM.Now the session is stuck at the last message given here at the end.

You are confused. / was full and now it isn't. It depends on the size of the file as Robert-Jan said.

the secend erros is somting els..
properly to manny DLT units are sharing the same SCSI-bus...

if you fo to the restore please and ad the -X to your recovery comand it will restore the file in the please where you are.
that will make sure / is not full.

when i am trying to restore the files with SAM, following is the error i am getting..

"CAUTION: There is more than one user currently on the system. This
could result in an incomplete recovery if they are accessing the
files you are recovering.
Do you want to proceed? "

is the normal/frequent message while restoring ?

This is the normal msg, while you wil try to take backup/restore.

You will get this msg because other users are alreday loggedin in the server.
