How does the media path work

How does the data go from the disk agent to the media server? Does it have past through the cell manager?

Re: How does the media path work

I am no backup expert, but from my dealings in the past... it always seemed that the cell manager... did just that... Managed the jobs and controlled things., while the Media servers accepted data from LAN clients to write to tape.

Re: How does the media path work

Hi,
the cell manager only control backup or restore jobs. Data flows directly between disk agent and media agent.

Re: How does the media path work

I'm assuming that you're taking about Data Protector...

The data flow is between the disk agent and media agent directly.

The cell manager only sets up the backup jobs, and records what is backed up. It is not involved in the data flow.
