HP Server TC4100

Excuse me if this is a bit basic but I have
never worked on HP servers before. We have a
new TC4100 that has 4x 36Gb drives on a raid
controller and an internal DLT connected to an
onboard SCSI controller on the motherboard.

Win2K is not seeing the DLT, drive array works fine. If I check under device drivers, I have
every driver and manufacturer that seems to come with windows 2000 listed and supposedly installed and function correctly.

What SCSI controller is built on to the mother board? Should this be auto detected by Win2K?

Cheers
Mike

Re: HP Server TC4100

Hi Mike,

Your TC4100 uses a Symbios SCSI controller. You can check to see if the SCSI configuration utility detects the DLT by pressing Ctrl-C at the appropriate prompt during boot.
For more information, please see page 66 of the TC4100 maintenance guide at

Re: HP Server TC4100

Thanks Rob,

The raid array is working properly with 4
drives, yet Ctrl C only reports 2 drives. It
does not see the DLT at all. All cables are in
ribbon cable to the DLT is terminated. I guess
it has developed a fault, I will place a call
with HP, the server is only a few weeks old.
Damn annoying that I cannot get a backup
first :-)

Cheers
Mike
