Re: Best Practice Array/Volume Size on Nimble AF40?
Hello,
Not really, a search on this forum will yield many results around the 10/15/20 VMs per datastore rule. Oh, and don't make your volumes any bigger than a few TB. Large multi-TB datastores are asking for trouble when thinking about snapshots, replication, and even performance.
i'd recommend to use VVols more than anything though.

Re: Best Practice Array/Volume Size on Nimble AF40?
I've been under the impression that the atomic test & set (ATS) primitive had obsoleted the 15-20 max VMs per datastore guidance. Anyone seen updated information surrounding this?

Unfortunately not. There's plenty of blogs around, but here's a good one - it's old, but still relevant. http://www.boche.net/blog/2013/02/28/vaai-and-the-unlimited-vms-per-datastore-urban-myth/
There was a thread on Reddit recently which was a similar discussion point. This might be useful: https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/eeow4y/nimble_dhci_storage_allocation/fbxx1bp/?context=3
