Foreign Disk when adding shelf
We just added a new expansion shelf to our array. The shelf shows up under array but there are 5 foreign disks. I also states foreign next to the activate button. Is this normal? Don't want to press activate without validating. Can't find this one in any search. I am waiting for a call back from support but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced.
Thanks,

Re: Foreign Disk when adding shelf
Yes, that is not uncommon with a shelf Add. It typically means the shelf was picked at random for additional QA testing, so now there are bits on the disks. Perfectly OK to "Force Activate" to bring it on-line.

Re: Foreign Disk when adding shelf
Why wait for support when you have John Leonardini online?

Re: Foreign Disk when adding shelf
Thanks for the replies. Support did call us back and stated that this is not uncommon. Once we pressed activate all was good. The only recommendation that I would add is to put that as a note in the documentation. When this is your first upgrade that throws up red flags which can be avoided.
Thanks,
Doug
