RDX backup

Hi. I have a server with SBS 2003 R2. For backup I use the HP RDX with two RDX cartridges. First RDX cartridge backup on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Secondary RDX cartridge for backup on Tuesday and Thursday. Happened to me twice before that not created a restore point on that day.
When and under what conditions should be created restore point? thanks.
