Outlook Connection Error?

Every once in a while our users who are on Outlook 2000 receive this error when opening a new or old mail message. "The operation failed due to network or communication problems. Check your connections and try again." Now after that sometimes they can open the message and work and other times they can not. They do not actually lose connectivity to the network as all other network apps stay connected. This only happens to those on Outlook 2000. We are running SP3 and most OS's are Windows 2000 SP3.

Re: Outlook Connection Error?

Sounds like a network problem with your E-mail server.

BTW:

If your mail server is MS Exchange, don't forget the fixes/patches for it.

Re: Outlook Connection Error?

First off thank you to everyone that replied. The client installs of Office 2000 are all up to date with patches, etc. We are running Exchange Server 5.5 SP4 on Windows 2000 SP3. We also assure that this server is up to date with patches. I'm leaning more towards the 4108 GL Switch we have it connected to. I think I'll try to set flow control on the switch, and then make sure it's on the NIC and see what happens.
