Does anyone know how SmartLink works?
Mark had a customer question on SmartLink and how it works:

Does anyone know how SmartLink works?
Is it just monitoring carrier detect, or does it test in some way for vLAN ‘operational’?
We have a customer where the physical uplinks do not appear to be disconnecting (according to the switches), but some of the servers are seeing the vNICs go down.

SmartLink only monitors VC uplinks state. This is not a per VLAN monitoring.
From the VC interface you can easily identify when SmartLink has been triggered because the FlexNIC would show as “Not Linked/Smart Link” status :
