Doubts about boot from SAN and Smart Array

Hi,

I've this question if I want to buy a bl460c g9 thats BOOTs fron SAN (HP 3PAR 7200) is needed any smart array (like P244)?

If the response is affirmative is the HP FIO Enable Smart Array B140i a valid option?

regards,

maiky

This seems strange.  Why you you want to use a smart array on top of a super genius (3PAR) array?  :-)

Re: Questions about boot from SAN and Smart Array

Hi,

When I order the blade BL460c G9 the configurator adds by the default the P244. If you want to quit the P244 the checker shows an error that you need to get minimal HP FIO Enable Smart Array B140i.

I suposse if I boot from SAN the smart array isn't needed. Can anyone confirm it, please

Re: Questions about boot from SAN and Smart Array

Hi @Maiky

You're right - the P244 isn't needed.  You should be able to build a configuration without the P244 by following the instructions to include 784308-B21, HP FIO Enable B140i.  This is a $1.00 item.

Hope that helps - Calvin
