Maintenance note: CPU(s) operating at reduced performance level due to an enclosure power event.

Seeing this on a Gen8 server blade, it powers off with a critical error.  Have 5 other blades of the same model in the same chassis with no issue.  There is no power issue with the chassis.

Blade is on the latest f/w I believe, 05/21/2018 BIOS, 2.61 iLO4

Reseating the blade clears the error for a bit before it happens again.  Thanks!

EDIT:  I found this

https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c04750148

Which claims the issue was fixed with a BIOS update in 2014 (obviously not in this case).  I am going to try to workaround which is disabling CPU power management.

Unfortunately the server will not stay powered on long enough to even get into the BIOS to change the CPU power setting any longer.  So still asking for help on this one if anyone has an experience with the issue.  Thanks!

Hi

Thank you for your message.

If only 1 blade is impacted, have you tried to insert in another bay and test?

Also check the AO ShowAll and review if there is enough power available for this server. You may also check the same in OA GUI.

If there is enough power available, then try in another bay. If there is no enough power then try changing the power settings in to N+1 Or No redundancy.

If it still continues, you ,may need to get the AHS logs analysed to review if its a system board fault. (may need replacement)

Thank you

Regards

Re: Maintenance note: CPU(s) operating at reduced performance level due to an enclosure power event.

Thanks!  There is no real power issue with the chassis, had already confirmed that.  Moving the blade to another slot allowed me to change the power settings to max performance, and then I moved it back to the original slot & it is working for now.  Will give it about a week & see if it stays on.
