security switch/ ILO2 / BL680 G5

I think my ILO2 may have been corrupted, probably as a result of rebooting in the middle of an upgrade.

I noticed the following error when I tried to upgrade ILO2 again, the questions are

a. is unsetting the security switch the only solution to fix the problem? (obviously, I could have replaced the motherboard :-(, but I like to avoid opening the box if I can.)

b. Does anyone know where I can find the document on (un)setting the security switch? where is the switch?

the following is the error message ...

Re: security switch/ ILO2 / BL680 G5

Open the BL680 G5 server Hood.
Look for the "System Maintenance Switch" it will be labeled on the back of the hood.
Turn on iLO2 security override switch.

Re: security switch/ ILO2 / BL680 G5

Unfortunately it didn't work.
I managed to turn on the security switch, put back the blade. But now it didn't come up, it detected a firmware error with the ILO.

I finally have the system board replaced.

Re: security switch/ ILO2 / BL680 G5

Are you able to connect via the iLO interface at all? If so, try to upload the binary rather than running the online executable.

Re: security switch/ ILO2 / BL680 G5

Anyone know how to extract the binary from the CP010302.scexe script on linux?

The script unpacks, attemps to install, get the "ERROR: iLO 2 security override switch isn't set" and deletes the temp extract dir.

I'd like to get the bin and upload it via the ILO2 web url.

Re: security switch/ ILO2 / BL680 G5

I'm having the same issue on a DL580g5 running VMware ESX 3.5. Any other options than going inside the hood? There is no .bin to d/l @ hp.com for ESX; only a csexe. Thanks.

Re: security switch/ ILO2 / BL680 G5

try this: just comment strings in code, which in charge of removing tmp directory:

###############
# Script Die
###############
Die()
{
rm -rf $_TMPFILE $_TMPDIR;
exit $@;
}

good luck
