Smart Array P220i Degraded
Hi community,
I just received four SSD drives and 4 caddys for a HPE BL360c Gen8 blade, they both have a smart array P220i module but when the blades start they both flash orange and say the smart array cache is degraded, when i boot into ESXi and log onto vCenter under disks it only shows one SSD on each server instead of TWO on each ?
i can use the one SSD fine in vcenter but the second doesnt show up i get a bunch of errors in the log mentioning about smart array not configured or array not configred etc.

Re: Smart Array P220i Degraded
Greetings!
"I just received four SSD drives and 4 caddys" - I assume the drives are non-HPE because HPE drives would come with caddies attached to them.
"smart array cache is degraded" This looks like the cache which is on the controller. Logs would give a clear picture.
I understand that you are able to see only one drive on both the nodes, was there a RAID configured with the drives on each server?
As you have mentioned that you see errors about Smart Array configuration, this needs to be investigated further from the ADU and the SSD wearguage report.
Please log a support ticket, inorder to get the issue checked.
