Virtual Connect with Jumbo frames performance question.
Karene had a Jumbo Frame question:
*********************
One of my students asked the following question:
What is the performance impact of of enableing 9K Jumbo frames for systems on same network that are default 1500. Should systems running 9k iSCSI be placed on private iscsi only network?
*********************
From Dave:
*********************
When using Jumbo Frames, every device that is using the iSCSI Jumbo frames will need to be set to the exact same frame size, NICs switches, etc. Some NICs do not go over 4k frame, so that would be a problem.
We have found that most sites that try Jumbo frames, will not use them in the end. But to answer your question, each port connecting to a 9K Jumbo frame would need to be set to the exact same size and this could limit some networks. We always recommend a separate iSCSI network when possible.

What has been your experience?
