What does Bnt mean!

Another quick one, what does it mean when people say Bnt switches as opposed to VirtualConnect etc..?

HP does have "own" switches - Procurve. But they do not do any that fit the blade enclosures.

Incase of P class enclosures there are three kind of interconnect modules

1.GbE ( Dlink IOS)
2.GbE2 (Nortel WebOS)
3.CGESM ( Cisco IOS)

Also what is the difference between Layer 2 and Layer 2+.

Out of above 3 the GbE and GbE2 are Layer 2 swithes. But

CGESM is a Layer 2+ switch which recognizes many layer 3 functions, but not IP routing.

As Jarkko says there are no HP "own" blade switches.

HP GBE2,HP GbE2c, HP GBE2c L2/3, HP 1:10 BLc & HP 10G BLc are all Bnt products with HP Badging....but made specifically for HP by Bnt (ex Nortel) they make similar versions for IBM.

CEGSM, 3020, 3120G, 3120X are all Cisco products with some HP branding. Similarly Cisco make the 3020 for dell as the 3030 and the 3040 for FujitsuSiemens

Virtual Connect can be classed as a switch (but it does not switch) and can be classed as HP "own" as HP designed it(but its contracted manufactured under HP license by someone else only for HP).

Procurve is HP's true "own" brand switch but there are no models that fit the blade enclosures.
