Creating Virtual Connect Server Profile from Command Line Interface (CLI).

Terri had a question regarding server profiles in Virtual Connect.

Hello all,

I know you can use the Virtual Connect Command Line Interface to create a server profile, and this allows you to specific the MAC address and WWN.

You can create a new profile and specify WWNs in the definition of FC Connections. See example below

->add fc-connection MyNewProfile AddressType=User-Defined

      PortWWN=50:06:0B:00:00:C2:62:00 NodeWWN=50:06:0B:00:00:C2:62:01

1. Will Virtual Connect generate an error if you try to create a MAC or WWN virtual address that already exists?

2. If using the pre-defined range of virtual addresses, will you get error if you try to specify address out of the range?

Thanks!

For your question #1: Yes, Virtual Connect will generate an error.

For your question #2: No, Virtual Connect will not give you an error in this case.
