7102dl PPP problems
Hi I hope someone can help.
We are using the 7102dl's in 13 depots around the UK. These are using an ADSL connection. Over this a VPN connection is made to our head office which is using a 7103dl router. This setup works fine.
The problem we have is at the depots. When someone uploads a large file for example(say 5 - 10 MB), eventually the line PPP connection will drop for about 30 seconds before it re connects. The sync for the ADSL connection stays OK (according to the router). It usually only drops when the upload speed is at a maximum. This is causing us some real problems.
We have logged the a problem with our ISP but they cannot find anything wrong. They are pointing the fingers at the HP routers. The fact that this is happening at the majority of our sites seems to support their theory.
Does anybody know anything that can help to troubleshoot this problem. do you think it could be the routers.
Cheers
Richard

Re: 7102dl PPP problems
don't know too much on this but it sounds like it could be a data transmission issue.something in between the hardware or the connections.

Re: 7102dl PPP problems
If it is only the PPP session that goes down then that certainly is interesting. You don't see any atm 1.1 is down, etc messages at the same time? Or 'show int adsl 1/1' going into training at the same time?
If it is the PPP only that is going down, maybe try enabling debugging to see what you get when this occurs:
e.g.
ProCurveSR7102dl#debug ppp authentication
ProCurveSR7102dl#debug ppp errors
ProCurveSR7102dl#debug ppp negotiation
ProCurveSR7102dl#debug ppp verbose
ProCurveSR7102dl#
