Console Access (Take 2)

My problem is identical to that of Todd Hayward (username = lordcompaq. His was the first posting about console access. He finally gave up...). I also want to assign an IP address but I can't communicate with the switch with a null modem cable through the serial port. I have tried 2 different computers and two different null modem cables. My switch also tests fine (all ports). Hyperterminal tells me that I am connected, but I have a blank screen. There is no response when I type VT100. The switch works, I just wish I could manage it. Is this a common problem with the 5226A?
