DNS ALIAS
Hi,
is there any experts there that can give me a hand on DNS Alias.
i have been asked to set one up for a user.
so
I have started DNSMGMT, connected to the DNS server, under the forward lookup and reverse lookup zones i have added a new alias(cnmame)
under the alias name i give it the name that was requested, and under the FQDN for target host i give it the correct name also.
so as per my understanding, i should now be able to ping the alias and recive a response which is is the same as the FQDN Host??
but when i do ping the alias i get no info back, when i ping the FQDN host i recieve back the ipaddress..
if any one can help me id appreaciate it. (im not too well up on networking..!!)
Thanks
Damien
