hpgate.sys
Hi there,
I've already searched all over the forum but haven't found any solution. I think this is the right place..(not quite sure).
I have a HP Omnibook xt6050, just reinstalled WinXp Pro, everything is fine..just when I log on I get this message from 'AEIWLRAD':
Can not open file: HPGATE.SYS
Everything works fine anyway.. just would like to get rid of the message. I'm not using the Wireless even if it's installed. Hope anyone can help! Thanks for your time..
Robert

Re: hpgate.sys
Hello Robert,
This is caused by a conflict with HPGATE.SYS and a new MS Security patch.
This error has been corrected in the HP NetServer TopTool Agents version 5.51 and up. Please install the latest version from:
http://www.hp.com/toptools/download/server_agents.html
Also, please check if you have the HP Netserver Agents program installed in the Computer. If you find one please remove if from the Computer.
Note: Use the Uninstall menu option from START - PROGRAMS - HP NetServer Agents - Uninstall. Do not use the Control Panel ADD/REMOVE Software.
Hope this helps.
Sundar Krishna.

Re: hpgate.sys
Hi Sundar,
I don't have the netserver agent installed. I got rid of the message actually, even if in an unorthodox way ('cause I don't think the problem is solved).
I went in Device manager and I noticed that the infrared device had a problem with the allocation of resources. Since AEIWLRAD.exe is part of the wireless package, and since I don't use wireless at the moment, I disabled the wlan device and the O/S allocated resources automatically for the infrared. The message now has disappeared, but I'll have to deal again with it if in the future I'll want to use wlan..
thanks for your time anyway!

Re: hpgate.sys
I would like to implement the solution in your reply earlier, but when I follow the link the page is no longer there.
Do you have an up-to-date link I could follow please?
Thanks
