J9001A Wireless Module
At the moment, we are redirecting to a login page on our internal web server, but the user is not redirected automatically. They have to type in the name of the redirect url, otherwise they get an error page. It seems the wireless station cannot see the wireless module for redirecting, even though the ip address is in the allowed list.
I would be interested to know if anyone is using the J9001A in web authentication mode successfully.
Tony.

Re: J9001A Wireless Module
I also have the J9001A wireless module, and I have exacly the same problem.
When the user type an URL, it jumps for the authentication page, but after a few minutes stars to get and error page. In the logs I can see:
"%PM-1-PROCMAXRSTRT: Process "redirectd" reached its maximum number of allowed restarts".
Thats not a big help, but at least you are not alone :).

Re: J9001A Wireless Module
What looks to be happening is one of the processes fails, and as suggested in the previous post, gets to a point where the process will give up and not restart.
A reboot of the module will temporarily fix it.

Re: J9001A Wireless Module
I have reported this to HP, they even issued me a new firmware revision as a result. Unfortunately it didn't fix the problem

Re: J9001A Wireless Module
Keep us updated on your progress. I know the issue exists with WS.01.05, were you given that or a newer non-web released version? Make sure to update HP with your progress and get the call escalated if necessary.
If there is anything that comes to your mind on how to trigger this, that would be the most beneficial. I'm wondering if it's users that sit on the login page and never login, or too many unsuccessful logins? Just wild guesses but anything you can think of could be of great assistance.

Re: J9001A Wireless Module
I currently have version 1.06. I don't know for sure what triggers the failure, it happens very soon after the module restarts, and remains like that until the next restart. We don't have a huge number of users at the moment as the service is pretty new. I am waiting on HP to get back to me, and will keep you posted of progress.

Re: J9001A Wireless Module
Currently we have only three users with the web authentication available, for testing, but when I restart the wireless module, the redirection works for only 10..15 minutes. I've tried to failed login intentionally and not fail any login but the same happens.
Tony, is your wireless module in a 5300 switch? Do you have excessive broadcasts on any of is ports?
Pedro.

Re: J9001A Wireless Module
Yes, I have the module in a 5308XL switch. Haven't had any broadcast issues for a few weeks. Received notification of new firmware for the 5300 range today. I will put this on later, but I don't expect it to make any difference.

Re: J9001A Wireless Module
We have 3 SSID. The SSID1 is a mac-authentication wireless,
the SSID2 is a WPA key wireless and the SSID is the WebAuthentication Wireless.

Re: J9001A Wireless Module
Under the web interface, under Troubleshooting, there is a "core snapshot" page there where I expect you'll see a few 'redirectd' files. If you can get these to HP support it should help in getting this resolved faster.
I'm going to keep trying some more to see if I can find the exact trigger.
