Network Help Needed
We have 1 desktop & 2 laptops, and one printer on our home network. All are using wireless connections. Computers running windows xp; the two laptops have xp pro. Our router is Linksys.
Well, all of a sudden one of the laptops can not connect to the other computers. Nothing was changed in the setting, just one day the computer decided not to "share" itself with the other computers/printer. Occasionally it does show all the computers on "my network places". But, this is only occasionally. Even with "seeing" the other computers, it still won't let me gain access to them. Saying I need "admin. approval" or something. The one computer in question does have internet access, but, no other network options. All are set to the same network name [SSID] and all are showing the same "workgroup" name. It's frustrating to now have it not working when no settings/etc were changed that I'm aware of.
Any ideas as to how to get it linked back to the network? I ended up having to install the printer to the other laptop, the one in question was the "host" computer. If anyone has a link to direct me to repair the network connection, that would be great.

Re: Network Help Needed
I am having a similar problem adding a new desktop to my existing network. Occasionally my laptop and another desktop seem to "lose" connection to the network. Usually going throught the connect procedure 2-3 times is enough to get it back. This new desktop however does not even see itself as a networked machine and has never seen other computers. The other computers see the new name but cannot connect. Must be an inherent problem; I'll bet someone has resolved it by now.
Hope the retries help you.
