hi aron,

I'm sorry, i didn't really understand your English, but it seems to me that you deleted or removed something important from your windows installation in your laptop, and that only your laptop is giving you problems, others are fine.

If you don't think that you can undo what you have done, then probably is best to install windows again, just make the necessary backups of your data.

Sorry I couldn't be more specific

Re: same problem! but anyone here to help!

hello Hugo,

After reading my query again now, even i am not getting anything from that pathetic english! But anyway...i have not got the solution as yet i am pushing this question (rather in a neat manner)once more!

My notebook is HP-compaq presario V-6000 and i have d-link 110 wireless router for my wi fi connection. There is no problem from my ISP because three other notebooks of the same set up are working fine. Even my internet connection was working fine for 8 months until this day. Suddenly, when i woke up and couldnt connect to my wi fi network. The wi-fi light isnt swtching to blue and always indicate orange colour even if i turn wi fi on or off. If i go to network connections, then i cannot even find my wireless conection icon. In the control panel if i click to hp wireless assistant, then it does nothing.
By bugged at this, i downloaded updated drivers from recommended HP website. and i put them in my wireless assitantce folder in and installed it! after boot it asks for .hwd extention file to open and it doesnt find appropriate program for that, i also tried performing the windows live search but theres no point discussing that as it was absolutely uselss.

one more clue is that..wo months ago my antivirus detected w32:passma, and i deleted some .exe infected from that, i am not sure if this problem is related with that!

so, in conclusion....i just want my wi fi connection to respond to my router set up! I am sure there will be some solution regarding this!

Many thanks!

Re: same problem! but anyone here to help!

hi again,

I'm not sure about that extension, but here's some info on that:

http://filext.com/file-extension/hwd

From what you said, it's very possible you deleted something you shouldn't. But it's goind to be very dificult to discover what.

you did the right thing in trying to install the updated drivers from hp site, but from what i understand the wireless device doens't even appear in the network devices.

Have you checked inside system properties, to see if at least windows detects the hardware, even if it doens't recognize it.

Anyway, my advise for you is that, if possible, you should install everything from scratch, because even if you could fix the problem, your computer as already been compromised, so there can be problems that you don't even know yet.

This way at least you get a clean OS, and find out if the problem is hardware related.

hope this helps
