Software Wireless HP vs IBM

We have some customers that used to have IBM notebooks and now have HP Compaq nx6320 notebooks. They get used to work with
some features of the "ThinkVantage Connections Access" software for wireless connections to manage the configurations when they change locations, for example when they move from the office to their homes. These software allows them to configure IP addresses, windows default printer, windows internet explorer proxy settings associated with profiles.

I quote the features from this software from the IBM site.

Automatically manages your basic network connections, even if you use static and dynamic IP addresses in different locations.
Manages your printing by automatically reassigning the Microsoft Windows default printer to match your location, so you can quickly get your printout on your preferred printer.
Automatically adjusts your network configuration to match the IT needs of each location. For example:
At what locations do you need to use a Virtual Private Network, or any other application?
When do you need File and Printer Sharing, Internet Sharing and Internet Connection Firewall enabled or disabled?
Do you need a proxy server for browsing, or do you need to change your Internet Explorer homepage?

more feature see link:

Does anyone knows from a software from HP that can provide these features?

Thanks
David

Re: Software Wireless HP vs IBM

Hi David,

I might be wrong, but i don't think HP has software that's dedicated for that.

But in any case, all of those function can easily be implemented with scripts.

Users can run a different script depending on their location, and it would all be set.

Even if you don't know how to script, it should be easy to find script to do that in the net, you just need to put them together and change a thing or two to suit your needs.

hope this helps,
