Terminal Server
Hi guy,
Need some explanation on Terminal Server.I being searching the internet for terminal server defination but still vague.
Appreciate if you could explain what is terminal server.
We have a user in India which need to access the hpux here in Singapore .We planned to use the terminal server. But I don't have any clue why we need terminal server and what is the function .Can't we just used telnet to telnet directly to our server in Singapore from India?.I guest this is less hassle than using terminal server.
Appreciate if you could shed some light.
regards
mB

Re: Terminal Server
I can't think of any reason why you have to, but maybe there's something in your environment that mandates it.
I regularly telnet (or since implementing it, ssh) from US to Thailand all the time.

Re: Terminal Server
Hi,
one advantage of using a terminal server is, that you can view and interupt the boot-process of the hp-ux-server remotely.
It will be a "console-login" actually.
But I don't see any reasons why somebody in another country should be able to do this.
Telnet or ssh connection should be fine.
Hope the this helps even if its too late for the meeting.
