VIRT

Verify that a problem exists
Identify the problem
Repair the problem
Test - to ensure the problem is solved

Yes, I know you're looking for specifics to help you identify the problem, but you have given us very little to work with.

Slow speed & intermittent disconnection - most likely result from a congested network, and that can have many causes.

Tell us a little more - describe your network, and we may be able to help you identify the problem.

Re: troubleshooting Network issues

"Slow speed & intermittent disconnection" might also be caused by a defective cable. I once had a UTP cable running under a door (yes, I know, not really the standard way of cabling). Because of the friction with the door, the cable was damaged, but not completely interrupt. Hence the connection WAS functional, but the average speed was below 200 kbps and also accompanied by random disconnections. Go figure ...

Re: troubleshooting Network issues

Hi Bond,

1 check the cable for proper connector termination ( crimping )

2 check th port setting

3 check the switch side config/errors

Siva.

Re: troubleshooting Network issues

Letisha,

Your problem is not related to the original post, it would be better if you opened your own thread.

Also you don't mention anywhere that you have a wireless router or access point.

The laptop may have a wireless network adapter, but it needs a wireless network to connect to.
