ze4428ea
Im need the driver for the WLAN-card for the HP Pavilion ze4428ea. The drivers on HP.com for this modell arent really working. Any ideas? I've just formatted the HD and installed everything fresh without any contact to the Internet.

Did you download from here?

What kind of trouble do you have?

Re: ze4428ea
I've downloaded the drivers from the site you are mentioning but when I execute them, there is no installation window so the WLAN-card isnt beeing installed. That is why I assumed that they were wrong. The only driver that I have installed is the soundcard-driver. Is there some prerequisite for the soundcarddriver?

Phil,
I don't know driver of ze4428ea but I guess they are in zipped folder like many others. After you downloaded it and opened, I guess you have to extract into temporary folder (I use \temp for this purpose). In temporary folder you can find some setup file to beginnign installation. If you can't find setup, open your "Add new hardware" and search on local disk.

Re: ze4428ea
what kind of os are you using?
If you are using win 9x you have to reboot in order to see new card.
If you are using win xp you can immediatly see new device in property of MyNetwork. Can you see some other device?

Re: ze4428ea
in my 1.st post there is a link to HP FAQ. It appear if you have not ethernet cable connected, wireless network doesn't start. I suspect you installed wireless driver without network cable unplugged; this is not logically a mistake but your NB may not work in this case.
HP hints:
1. Remove any network bridge if you see it.
2. Use HP Network assistant.
3. Click start, all programs, accessories, command promt; type netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt and press return key.
Read here for furthermore information

Re: ze4428ea
So you´re saying that I have to install the drivers with an ethernet cable plugged in? Ok,
The Hp network assistant wasnt too helpful, what exactly should it do?
Lastly, the "http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=895811&admit=716493758+1118140636224+28353475"
points to http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?dlc=en&lc=en&product=347636〈=en&cc=us&docname=c00034789#c00034789_doc
which turns out as a blank page. So know I'm out of ideas.
I still have the recovery disc (8 in total). Are they my last chance in order to have wireless connection and must I delete any extra partitions then?

Re: ze4428ea
I read FAQ about your NB and your Wireless. I'm not sure but I understand there is some trouble when you install wlan driver without ethernet cable plugged. I know this is very strange but PC world is very weird :-)

Re: ze4428ea
I reinstalled windows with Norton Ghost and then tried installing the WLAN driver with the Ethernet cable plugged in and the ethernet card activated. I still can't see the WLAN card in the network connections. I cant see what I'm doing wrong?
If this isnt working I'm planning on using the Recovery Disks which I tried once but the "recovery operation" was aborted after the 2-3 disks and the computer shut down. When I tried this I had 2 partitions on the computer and when it was purchased it came with one partition. Is that why it isn't working and must I delete the second partition?

Re: ze4428ea
no I don't think you have to remove 2.nd partition.
Now you installed wlan driver within plugged cable; I guess you did it without trouble because you don't post any about your driver installaion.
I'm a bit confused. Can you see some wlan driver in your system configuration (Right click on MyComputer, Property, System)?
If you make image of system device, you can attach this and perhaps I can find some clue.

Re: ze4428ea
I can't see any wlan driver in my system configuration. I've now discovered that the systeminformation says that the HP is a 4400 but there is a sticker on the top of the computer that says ze4428EA. Anyways, I have tried installing the drivers for 4400 with the ethernetcable plugged in with the same result; no WLAN card in the networkconnections. See attached image:
Nätverksstyrenhet=Networkconnection
In all attempts the blue LED light indicating that the WLAN card is connected is glowing.
Regarding the installation with the 8 recovery discs, do I need a password for them?
Is there noone from HP who can help me with this problem?

Re: ze4428ea
sorry for late, I went out of my office for some days.
I saw your system devices images and you are right: there are only NIC driver and IEE driver. I also saw modem wrong modem driver, why?
Now, forget everythink you made and restart.
1.Your WLAN driver is up to date? On HP web site file is SP28537.EXE, version 3.00 B. Is it your driver?
