5700, TRILL and STP?
Hello!
Let's say I have three 5700 connected in triangle, running STP.
One of links is not active because of STP.
I'd like to migrate these 3 switches connections to TRILL, but I also have low cost campus switch connected to each of these 5700, which can do only STP.
Will this work if I just enable TRILL on 5700 and enable TRILL only on ports, which are connect 5700?
How will STP and TRILL work together?
Sorry for such novice question, but I'm really new with TRILL and can't find any manual about TRILL and STP interaction.
Thank you!

Re: 5700, TRILL and STP?
hello,
TRILL enabled ports will just discard STP frames.
What I suggest you do is :
- disable STP entirely on the 5700s
- all ports that are UP on the 5700s MUST be trill enabled
- configure your ports on your legacy switchs as if the 5700s were routers or servers (with your usual root-protection and so on)
That's basically it. Also if your 5700s are connected to the same legacy switch (rather in fact the same ethernet segment), be sure that the vlan used for discovery between TRILL switches over a legacy ethernet network is properly forwarded on every ethernet switch of the segment, so that the DRB election can take place.
