Hi,
I would like to change the direction of the ventilation flows of my HPE Comware 5700 switches.
Actual configuration :
Slot 1:
Fan 1:
State: Normal
Airflow Direction: Port-to-power
Prefer Airflow Direction: Port-to-power
Fan 2:
State: Normal
Airflow Direction: Port-to-power
Prefer Airflow Direction: Port-to-power
I changed the value of the "Prefer Airflow Direction" field to Power-to-port. Following this change, the status displays "FanDirectionFault" which is normal.
For the modification to be taken into account, do we have to restart the switch?
Thanks for your help

SolutionHi @CHFOUGERES !
You can't change airflow direction of fans with software command. There are two different types of fan trays with airflow direction either port-to-power (front-to-rear) or power-to-port (rear-to-front). You need to choose appropriate fan tray according your HVAC plan. The software command "fan prefer-direction" is just to configure your preferred direction so if by mistake you install wrong fan tray the switch will raise an alarm, but it definitely doesn't change the direction of the PSU's fans.
Please, refer to the QuickSpecs - https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/getdocument.aspx?docname=c04347352#
Fan Trays Rule# Description SKU:

HPE X711 Front (Port Side) to Back (Power Side) Airflow High Volume Fan Tray JG552A
HPE X712 Back (Power Side) to Front (Port Side) Airflow High Volume Fan Tray JG553A
Hope this helps!
