Hi Folks,
I have an original 3com switch 5500-EI
the software version is 3.03.02.p21 (Dez. 2012).
--------------------------------------------------------
3Com Corporation
Switch 5500G-EI Software Version 3Com OS V3.03.02s168p21
Copyright (c) 2004-2012 3Com Corporation and its licensors, All rights reserved.
Switch 5500G-EI uptime is 0 week, 2 days, 21 hours, 54 minutes
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What are the differences between the 3com Version and the recent HP-Version (A5500-EI) of this switches??
The hardware is different 128MB RAM vs. 256MB RAM. The software is also different ie. XRN == IRF.
Which comware version is running on the new 5500-EI switches an where can I find this code?
I found only this link https://h10145.www1.hp.com/downloads/SoftwareReleases.aspx?ProductNumber=JE090A&lang=en&cc=us&prodSeriesId=4177876 so far and it seems that is the same version 3.03.02.p21 like the 3COM switch.
According the documentation:
HP A5500 EI & A5500 SI Switch Series Layer 3 - IP Routing Configuration Guide
HP A5500 EI & A5500 SI Switch Series Layer 2 - LAN Switching Configuration Guide
several features, that I need for one project are documented, but are not available in the 3Com Version
especially changing the OSPF reference bandwidth (bandwidth-reference) and Routed ports (port link-mode route)?
So, are these features really available in the recent (HP-5500EI) version of the switches?
Thank you for your help
Gregor

SolutionThe naming schema was/is indeed kind of bad, as this is completely different hardware, but if you know the past, you know the difference:
- H3C S5600 == 3Com 5500G-EI == HP 5500G-EI
- H3C S5500-EI == 3Com 4800G == HP E4800G == HP 4800G == HP A5500-EI
(This is how I remember it. Please correct me if I´m wrong)
