H3C A5920 IRF issue (cancelling bind)

Hi Guys,

I have 4 A5920 switches for IRF and use below Command Line.

system-view
irf member 1 priority 32

interface ten-gigabitethernet 1/1/3
shutdown
quit

irf-port 1/1
port group interface ten-gigabitethernet 1/1/3
quit

interface ten-gigabitethernet 1/1/3
undo shutdown

When i try to undo shutdown, it prompts:

Bind the four interfaces Ten-GigabitEthernet1/0/21 to Ten-GigabitEthernet1/0/24 to one or two IRF ports or cancel the bindings on all of them

This is a new switch and i have reset current-configuration.

Any idea what went wrong?

Thanks.

Re: H3C A5920 IRF issue (cancelling bind)

hi.

The 5900 switches are build around 40G architecture and for IRF you usually reserve 4 ports.

If you you LAG for 2 switches you do not need to do a actualy ring but can just use 2 or 4 interfaces in each switch with switch 1 having irf-port 1/1 and switch 2 having irf-port 2/2 in use for multiple interfaces. If you only use 2 in each switch, the 2 others in the 4-pair will just be unusable to other purposes.

Hope that makes sense.

Like the support would say:

"It works as designed" :-)

It's a hardware-"issue"
