HP 5130 - replace fan

Hi,

i have to replace one of the fan on my HP 5130-48. The fails fan has code "Hpe X722 port to power fan tray 5060-0174" and it has red levers in its back.

The replace parts has blue levers, code is "HPE X722 BF fan tray".

The problem is that when i put the new one it doesn't recognize "fan prefer direction" commands: after a few seconds the flow remains unchanged and the switch tells to check air flow-direction.

My dubt is that the new spare parts in not exactly like the broken fan...

Any ideas?

Re: HP 5130 - replace fan

Hi,

Can you please share the exact command applied to change the flow direction.

For you reference:

e.g
fan prefer-direction
Use fan prefer-direction to configure the preferred airflow direction.

Use undo fan prefer-direction to restore the default.

Syntax
fan prefer-direction slot slot-number { power-to-port | port-to-power }

undo fan prefer-direction slot slot-number

If issue remains after applying above command then share below output and also share the old fan and new fan product/part number.

display device manuinfo fan
display fan
display version

Thanks!

Re: HP 5130 - replace fan

Hi,

during a test I tried to disassemble it and now it works. I don't know why, maybe it would have been a faulty contact.

Slot 1:
Fan 1:
State : Normal
Airflow Direction: Port-to-power
Prefer Airflow Direction: Port-to-power
Fan 2:
State : Normal
Airflow Direction: Port-to-power
Prefer Airflow Direction: Port-to-power

Slot 2:
Fan 1:   -->> It is the "Faulty" fan
State : Normal
Airflow Direction: Port-to-power
Prefer Airflow Direction: Port-to-power
Fan 2:
State : Normal
Airflow Direction: Port-to-power
Prefer Airflow Direction: Port-to-power

Re: HP 5130 - replace fan

Hi,

Now it seems FAN 2 state is 'Normal;'.

It might be because of  a faulty contact..

Also the deivce is running on very old software and I will advise you to upgrade it to latest.

Thanks!
