Solution required for POST failure on JG542A Switches
Hi,
The LED status on HP 5500 HI Series switche 100/1000 Base-T Ethernet Port is flashing yellow. I just want to know wheather POST has failed on the port or not. If yes the what is the solution for this.
Port mode LED status is steady green.
Thanks

Re: Solution required for POST failure on JG542A Switches
Hi Shiboo,
the manual - its all in there.
Starting at page 61 in:
If a port LED is blinking yellow, POST on that port has failed (no matter what the "Port mode LED" is)
So the answer to your first quesion is yes - POST has failed on that port.
How to fix it? (well - we don't know exactly whats wrong)
Can you access the switch via console and see what is says in during boot? (perhaps it says why it fails POST)

Re: Solution required for POST failure on JG542A Switches
Another possibility, if there is a cable connected to the port, is that link auto-negotiation is unable to be complete. You could momentarily connect it to another port on the switch to see if the port goes green and then disconnect it. Also check the settings on both devices to make sure that both are set to auto-negotiate. If one side is not, you'll always have problems.
If there is no cable in the port and the port is blinking yellow, you have a problem. Can you look at the pins in the port to see if any are touching each other?
I think it is unusual for a single port to go bad and have not heard of that happening very often.
Regards,
David

And while you are at it, try to completely disconnect the power from the unit and wait a few seconds before reconnecting.
Also make sure that the power (if using AC PSU) is connected to a power outlet which is grounded.
