adding disk to array

Just trying to get my head arround how the array behaves when you add a disk.

More disks in an array usually means better perormance. If I have a configured Raid 5 array with 4 disk using all the space with a single LUN, will adding a disk to array automatically cause the array to optimise the Logical drive across the new disk? (even if I dont extend the logical drive size)

We'll need to know the type of the storage array to answer that question.
