Re: Disk Array

From the presentation menu, go to the main menu,
Shift 6 (^)
If I recall
then
Ctrl P, hold shift then f then e then release shift then enter
You should see an FE show up in the top right hand corner
then
5 from the main menu
3 from the next

To go back to normal user (not fe)

Ctrl P,
shift
u
s
e
r
enter
It works for me (tm)

Re: Disk Array

if you follow the links I posted above you'll understand that 5 disk R5 is the best.

With the 12 disks you have you should create
2 5 disk R5
and
1 2 disk R1
this way:

A0 B0 C0 D0 E0 = R5 (top left)

A2 B2 C2 D2 E2 = R5 (top right)

A1 B1 = R1 (bottom left)

Re: Disk Array

But i started binding LUN with 6 disk each
A0,B0,C0,D0,E0,A2,
B2,C2,D2,E2,A1,B1,

with Raid 5

Re: Disk Array

yes, for performance reasons and ha reasons..

In both cases:
A0,B0,C0,D0,E0,A2,

There are 2 disks on internal bus A. This is going to cause a bottleneck on the lun..

B2,C2,D2,E2,A1,B1,
In this case there are two disks on bus B.

The best thing is
A0 B0 C0 D0 E0

5 disks, one disk per internal bus... ie no internal bus sharing for the same lun.

It's worth it in the end....

Re: Disk Array

by HA I mean, if the bus A fails (internal bus) you will loose 2 disks in the LUN.
Thus unrecoverable data loss for a Nike20.
It's rare, but possible.

The real concern is performance.

Re: Disk Array

on host

# ioscan -f

top

# ioscan -fnkCdisk

Verify the devices are CLAIMED

To create the device files:

insf -eC disk

# ioscan -fnkC disk

pvcreate
vgcreate
lvcreate
newfs
mount

Have you determined if the other controller has failed..

?? Can you connect to SPB via gridmanager..

Re: Disk Array

disable SPB with the switch.

pull it out

and reinsert it

connect the RS232 cable to the SPB port.

Click the switch into enable.

You should see boot messages on the console while SPB initialises.

Report any PANICs here.

You've got 2 mins when opening the fan door to close it again.. or the array will shutdown and your bind will stop!

There is a push button that'll reset the two minute timer on the left of the fan door inside.

Re: Disk Array

good,

now remove and replace the SPB, exactly like I mentioned above (2 messages above)

Then we can figure out if the SPB is failed..
