Disk replacement problems in EVA P6000

Nice to greet you, this is to request your collaboration in terms of support with an error that occurs when installing a new disk in the HP EVA P6000 Storage Systems; Currently, disk 9 of enclouse 2 has been alerted, so we proceeded to acquire a new one; When performing the installation and subsequent grouping in the respective diskgroup, the system indicates that the disk is not compatible.

The revision of the part number of the disk was carried out and this coincides, the only difference is in the firmware, the one installed has the HPD7 version and the new one has the HPDA; doing the review in forums, some propose to update the firmware version of the EVA which is installed is 11001100 and suggest to install 11300000.

There is some other solution for this case.

I appreciate any support in this regard.

Hi
The following https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=c03377265&docLocale=en_US shows the drive support matrix. Without knowing the drive type it's hard to say if an upgrade of the controller code would help, Might be worth upgrading the drive f/w first...

Good morning,
when you indicate to update the drive to f / w format, you mean to change the disk firmware or the EVA firmware; I already validated in the indicated table and this firmware model for the EVA P6000 is certainly not there.
In short, would it be better to change the disk for a compatible one?

Hi

I was suggesting the drive firmware in case it was an issue with interoperability but if the drive firmware HPDA isn't listed then that wouldn't help.  What type of drive is it?

Re: Disk replacement problems in EVA P6000

So...

HPDA is not on the list I assume because of the following issue https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=c03711106&docLocale=en_US

The upgrade HPDB is very hard to find, but this following should work https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/swd/detail?swItemId=MTX_e74f9b548ea941e68637385e6a#tab-history but also https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/swd/detail?swItemId=MTX_29624e6b970f4c0482650191b0#tab1

I'm not sure this will fix your issue however.  This lists a prereq of XCS 10001000 or later which you have.

It maybe that the disk is DOA, either way I'm not sure an upgrade of XCS will work. Maybe a different disk is the easier route?

Re: Disk replacement problems in EVA P6000

Hi Infrasmol,

A hard drive model can be used in multiple products with one assembly part number, but the spare and option parts may differ.

Here what was shared, "533871-003" is the ssembly part number.
Do share the spare part number or the "Replace with FRU or Replace with Spare # "
Check the label on the drive casing or the handle of the Drive to identiy the Spare part #.
Mostly, it will be ending with - 001

This will help to identify if the drive used is a supported EVA dirve or non EVA drive.
