distributed striping on EMC

what are the advantages/disadvantages to using Distributed (LVM) striping on an EMC symmetrix array?
I know it is highly recommneded on the XP arrays and I have had a lot of success with it there.

Yes, it is recommended with EMC arrays. In fact, more so than with the XPs, because the EMC does do any internal striping.
