I have modified BIOS to use RAID.
Checking the specifications I see that I have HP SMART ARRAY B110i
Using the HP Cd Rom to configure the array I see that no RAID controller is present....
Is it correct?
May I buy a controller? or is it disabled? Please can you help me?
Thanks
Giovanni

Re: DL120 G6 490931-421 Controller Raid
You can also configure the B110i via the ORCA.
See the b110i user guide for details:

Re: DL120 G6 490931-421 Controller Raid
I'm using a cd called "HP PROLIANT DL120 G6 Server easy set-up cd".
But in the MAINTENACE section I see "any controller enabled"
Do you know if I need to buy:
Hewlett Packard SMARTARRAY HOT PLUG ADV PACK F; B110I W; 24X7 SUPPORT; #TC421A
During the boot if I press F8 I can't see the menu on page 6 of HP guide but the menu of boot
- Normal boot....
- Safe mode boot....
Etc etc
It's really hard to configure RAID with this server :-)

Re: DL120 G6 490931-421 Controller Raid
The HP Smart Array B110i SATA RAID Controller does not support ORCA CLI.

SolutionSee http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13495_div/13495_div.pdf

Re: DL120 G6 490931-421 Controller Raid
See http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02289065/c02289065.pdf
page 13.
The normal ORCA is not a CLI (where you type in commands), it's more of a console based graphical interface.

Hewlett Packard SMARTARRAY HOT PLUG ADV PACK F; B110I W; 24X7 SUPPORT; #TC421A
Do you think that it's better to buy this license or an HW controller Raid?

Re: DL120 G6 490931-421 Controller Raid
Unfortunately this problem stop my today's configuration....
I'm looking for this license but is sold in a box not available in Italy.
Maybe it's better if I buy another HW controller...
I think I'will buy this product

Re: DL120 G6 490931-421 Controller Raid
I bought HP SC44Ge Host Bus Adapter...The HP SC44Ge Host Bus Adapter (HBA) tha "provides customers with the flexibility and speed they have come to expect from HP. The SC44Ge Host Bus Adapter is ideal for basic RAID (0,1) and low cost connectivity to tape and HDDs. This adapter supports both 3Gb SAS and 1.5Gb SATA devices. Providing up to 2.4GB/s maximum bandwidth, this HBA provides nearly four times the speed of a dual channel U320SCSI adapters. HP SC44Ge Host Bus Adapter has been thoroughly tested and integrated into many of the HP ProLiant servers"
I go here:
http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02289065/c02289065.pdf
Page 42.....
The system can't see the HARDWARE to do the RAID.
When I boot my server I can entre in a LSI menu pressing F8.
I create a raid....I create an array....But If I try to install my WIN2008SRV using the HP CD-ROM I can't see the controller and I can't see the array....
How can I do to create a RAID???
I don't know why....but this HP procedure is really strange...Can you help me?
Regards

Re: DL120 G6 490931-421 Controller Raid
So you have already created a RAID???
I'm pretty confident that you you cannot configure the SC44Ge in the smartstart CD.

Re: DL120 G6 490931-421 Controller Raid
I think that my Raid 1 is created and I can see that's active....
If I try to install My Win2008Srv with HP Prliant Easy Setup CD, It can't see my RAID Hardware and my array.
Now I'm installing Win2008 and at the end I'd like to see if the array is active...in the past I use other brands but anyone with these difficulties....

Re: DL120 G6 490931-421 Controller Raid
2HDDs with RAID1 and the other one without data for now.
If my server starts with only 2HDDs (RAID1) I can install WIN2008Srv....if every Hdds are installed I can't install WINDOWS.
According you....why?
Is it an Hot spare problem?Reading the Raid pdf file I can see that The esample have 2 hdd configured in Raid 1 and the third with HOT SPARE...is it a strange thing?
Regards and sorry for my questions but I need to share :-)
