Re: EVA 5K with 2c2d
As far as I am aware you can do your own upgrades, but you may prefer to use HP's services for several reasons.
It is possible to upgrade switched & non-switched configurations on-line but switched ones are easier. You do need to be careful and think about what you are doing for non-switched configurations. Going from non-switched to switched is a definate off-line job.
Obviously there are also several things to consider like RSS's, redundancy, etc but the actual h/w side of things is pretty straight forward. This is why many people use HP's services when upgrading.
As in above notes, read up, plan carefully and then do it [or get someone in!]

Re: EVA 5K with 2c2d
VCS 2.006 has been superseded long time ago.
Current VCS versions are
- 3.028 for active-passive LUN presentation
and
- 4.007 for active-active LUN presentation
You should upgrade or have your EVA upgraded to one of the two versions as soon as possible!

Re: EVA 5K with 2c2d
Yes you do... If I remember correctly you'll need to get up to at least version 4 of Command View EVA to support VCS 3.028.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rob

Re: EVA 5K with 2c2d
I thought V3.110 is the latest version as this is what I keep seeing in HP customer advisories etc. and in this forum.
However, I keep seeing references in this forum to V3.028 as the "latest" version ??? So what's it to be then ????
Anybody out there using V3.110 ???
I haven't tried it myself yet, by the way...

Re: EVA 5K with 2c2d

Re: EVA 5K with 2c2d
I would go for CV 6.02 which is the latest version. It will take intermediate upgrades for metadata conversion sake. Let HP do the upgrade!
2) what about the License issue for the command view.
This depends on the contract you have and under what terms you bought your EVA/CV. Best is to talk to your HP representative for support!
3) from where i can download the firmware for VCS and command view
VCS and CV is not intended to just be downloaded and installed by customers.
Again, contact your HP representative for support in figuring out your current licensing scheme and the required upgrade paths!
Cheers

Re: EVA 5K with 2c2d
A controlled release allows monitoring product quality and avoiding customer dissatisfacion! (Remember, there are more than 30'000 EVAs installed worldwide)
