Re: Formatting disk in Va7410
armdsp -a will give output as below, Check the auto format drive is on. If it is on it will format the drive as soon as you insert it.
SUB-SYSTEM SETTINGS
RAID Level:___________________________RAID1+0 Auto Format Drive:____________________On }===
Along with the above the below 2 values should also be on,
DISK SETTINGS
Auto Include:_________________________On
Auto Rebuild:_________________________On
Then you should not have any problem. If you are getting any specific errors, you can post them here and we can help you out.
Have you just removed this disk from another array or did you unbind the LUN before removing it from that array?
Let us know how it goes.
Cheers,
Mohan.

Re: Formatting disk in Va7410
thanks for your feed back.
i want to tell you that autoformat and autoinclude are on.
but the probleme is , when we insert a disk used befor by an other array the autoformat does't start. the disk is good but not include.Because it is alredy formated with 520 block seize by an old (other) array.
When we put this disk in in the new array it can not be formatted.
the question is how to format this disk in a new array manualy using command view??
have a look at armdsp -a attached.
Best regards
Omar

Re: Formatting disk in Va7410
Down the disk with below command,
armcfg -D
remove the disk after this and re-insert it. Then observe the array activity.
If it does not get included, then use
armcfg -D
where, enclosure/disk can be something like M/D2 or JA0/D2 . substitute this to your actual disk and check it out.
I also see that your array and disk firmware are pretty old. You may be better-off updating them after resolving this issue.
Let us know how it goes.
With regards,
Mohan.

Re: Formatting disk in Va7410
It will automatically be formatted when it gets included in the respective redundancy group of the VA7410!
Cheers
