How do we force the parity init to trigger?

I have a P812 card I'm using on a EMC disk shelf.... I have two arrays on this card (one internal raid 5, and the disk shelf raid50+1 hotspare.  Both have been sitting for about 4 or 5 days and I've written some data to each here and there in hopes that might start the background init to start - but my SSA (5.10.44.0) says both logical drives are "queued" and it never starts the init... I've got a ton of HPE servers at work with P2xxP8xx cards and I've never seen this problem - not sure how to make it init?  The logical volumes seem fine and fast - so I don't think there are any read errors... anyone have some insight for me?  Sorry if this isn't the right area to post - but it's the smart array P812 that's not behaving normally I think, so I thought this area was best for the post...
