How many Luns can my server accept from a 2012sa Disk Array
Hi
This is the first time I am using LUNS/WWN's. I have a HP 2012sa disk array attached via two HP SC08Ge HBA's to a DL380 G6.
I made a volume with 128 vdisk's of 7GB each. I ticked 28 of them and assigned them to one WWN of one of the controller ports. When I rebooted the server in the bios it only picked up 7 of the vdisks.
1) Is there a reason for this? Is there some limitation?
2)If so where is the limitation the DL380 G6 or the HBA's or the 2012sa?
3)How can I overcome this limitation?
4) Is there any documentation around this?
Thanks
Dan

Re: How many Luns can my server accept from a 2012sa Disk Array
Hi Everyone,
Can someone please help me with this? It may even be a lack of understanding in me on how LUN's and WWN's work so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dan

Re: How many Luns can my server accept from a 2012sa Disk Array
There are limitations for the number of Luns (volumes) you can map in that configuration from the MSA/HBA side, but it seems you are not excedding them:
Maximum # of luns to map per MSA2012sa: 255
Maximum # of luns mapped per SC08Ge: 128
Supported cable configurations:
http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01612749/c01612749.pdf
I would start by confirming everything is properly cabled, then check the volume mapping to make sure each server is seeing what it should.

MSA 2000 reference guide:

Also, remember windows can run out of drive letters and you might need mount points to see the volumes.
