MSA2212fc Enhanced - Email notification test

We are trying to configure the email notification on the controller. The storage controller is on the same segment as another server. From that server, we can send an email through our internal smtp relay. But when we configure the MSA2212fc with the same smtp properties of sender, recipient and email server we get the test failed message. Has anyone sucesfully configured email notifications on this model? Am I missing something here?
