RA4000 Controller Cache Battery

Can the cache battery be replaced or does it require a new controller? Also, if the battery does reach end of life and die will it adversely affect the read/write performance? We weren't sure if the read/write cache array accelerator would disable itself if it sensed a dead battery backup. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can replace Fibre Channel Array Controller 64-MB Cache Upgrade Kit (262398-B21).
When battery is not fully charged write cache is disabled.
