raid 5

Just a question. I have on a hp proliant 380 2 HD in raid1 and 3 HD in raid5.
I have to add 1 HD on raid5. Is it possible add the hard disk without redo the array or is necessary to re-create the array?

Thanks
Luigi

Re: raid 5

Luigi:

You should be able to hot add the drive to the server, open up ACU... add it to the array ("EXPAND" array) that is handling the RAID5 logical disk, then (once the operation is complete) "extend" your logical drive using the newly available space. Depends on your OS though.

Once complete, there may be other steps necessary to complete the process.

What OS are you running?
